Knut: Book Scanner & PDF ("the App") is developed and maintained by Jussi ("we," "us," or "our"). This privacy policy explains how the App handles your information.
Our Core Commitment
Knut: Book Scanner & PDF does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The App operates entirely on your device. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
1. Information We Collect
None. Knut: Book Scanner & PDF does not collect any personal information, usage data, or analytics.
Specifically, the App:
- Does not require an account or sign-in
- Does not collect names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
- Does not track usage patterns or behavior
- Does not use analytics frameworks (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no third-party SDKs)
- Does not use advertising identifiers
- Does not collect crash reports or diagnostics
2. Camera Access
The App requests access to your device's camera solely to capture images of book pages for scanning. Camera access is used exclusively for this purpose.
- Camera data is processed entirely on your device
- Captured images are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with any server
- No facial recognition, object tracking, or image analysis beyond local page processing is performed
- You can revoke camera access at any time through iOS Settings
3. Data Storage
All data created by the App is stored locally on your device only:
- Scanned images are temporarily stored during a scanning session and used to generate PDFs
- PDF files are saved to the App's local documents directory on your device
- App settings (such as compression quality and capture interval) are stored locally using iOS standard preferences
No data is stored on external servers, cloud services, or any location outside your device.
4. Network Requests
Knut: Book Scanner & PDF makes zero network requests. The App does not connect to the internet for any purpose. It functions fully offline.
- No data is uploaded or downloaded
- No APIs are called
- No remote configuration or feature flags are used
- No content is fetched from external sources
5. Data Sharing with Third Parties
We do not share any data with third parties. There is no data to share because the App does not collect any.
- No advertising networks
- No analytics providers
- No social media integrations
- No third-party SDKs that collect data
6. Data Sharing by the User
The App includes a standard iOS share/export feature that allows you to share your PDF files with other apps or services. When you choose to share a file, it is handled by iOS and the receiving app — this is initiated and controlled entirely by you.
7. Children's Privacy
Because Knut: Book Scanner & PDF does not collect any data from any user, it does not collect data from children. The App is rated 4+ and is safe for users of all ages.
8. Security
Your scanned documents and PDFs are protected by your device's built-in security features, including:
- iOS file-level encryption
- Device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID protection
- iOS sandboxing (the App cannot access data from other apps, and other apps cannot access the App's data)
9. Your Rights
Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete on our end. All your data resides on your device and is fully under your control.
- To delete your data: Delete individual PDFs within the App, or uninstall the App to remove all associated data from your device.
- To revoke camera access: Go to iOS Settings > Knut: Book Scanner & PDF > Camera.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
